Data-driven control that strengthens Varberg's district heating network
We are proud to have been entrusted with developing their new District Heating Flex service together with Varbergs Energi - an innovative solution that makes the district heating system in Varberg both more robust and more sustainable.
As a technology partner, SI Sustainable Intelligence has played a central role in developing control and interfaces for the service. Through our expertise in smart control systems, energy data and optimization, we have ensured that District Heating Flex works seamlessly with their customers' control systems and gives Varberg Energi the flexibility required to handle power challenges in a modern and resource-efficient way.
District Heating Flex is designed for property owners with high power consumption. Through the property's existing control system, heat delivery can be temporarily reduced for limited periods and when necessary to relieve the district heating network when it is at its most stressed.
For property owners, this means that they contribute to a more stable district heating network and are compensated for the flexibility they offer. For Varberg Energi, this means that they can to a greater extent avoid starting costly backup boilers or using energy from accumulator tanks when the load is greatest.
What makes the solution unique is the combination of technology and collaboration. By allowing two customer groups to be activated alternately, the impact on each individual property is minimized, while the effect on the district heating network is significant.
Built-in safety functions and indications in operating images ensure high operational reliability, an important security for both property owners and Varberg Energi.
