LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is an international certification system for sustainability in the construction industry.
The most important evaluation criteria for a property are: the site itself is sustainable; water consumption is efficient; energy use is low and the proportion of renewable energy is as high as possible; high reuse of materials and environmentally friendly construction production; healthy indoor climate and high comfort. LEED also rewards innovation and properties that have gone beyond standard requirements. LEED originated in the USA but is now a recognized standard internationally.
