The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is an EU directive that aims to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and will become Swedish law no later than May 29, 2026.
The directive sets energy performance requirements for new and existing buildings, with the goal that all new buildings should be zero-emission buildings from 2030 and that the entire EU building stock should be climate neutral by 2050.
This means, among other things, that Sweden must develop a national renovation strategy and that property owners will need to carry out energy efficiency measures.
