It has been just over a year since Rau-Service became part of the SI Group, a strategic move that has opened up new opportunities for continued growth and development.

Behind the decision lay a clear ambition to find the right partner for the next chapter in the company’s journey. To gain a clearer picture of the period following the merger, and to understand which factors carried the most weight in the choice of the SI Group, we met Mikko, CEO of Rau-Service, who shares his experiences and reflections.

”I had been building Rau-Service for a long time and knew that sooner or later the time would come to think about the next chapter. I wasn’t actively looking, but I felt very clearly that I hadn’t yet found a partner whom I truly trusted to take the company forward.”

When discussions with the SI Group began, the difference quickly became apparent. From the very first meeting, the interaction was characterised by a genuine interest – not only in the business, but also in the staff and its long-term development. Just over a year on, the picture is clear. The experience has been overwhelmingly positive, both for Mikko and the whole team. The collaboration has been characterised by streamlined processes, pragmatic decision-making and an entrepreneurial approach that remains at the heart of everything we do.

At the same time, clear and tangible results of the merger are evident. Rau Service has reached new customers with the support of new technical system solutions, broadened its offering – not least in the field of energy services – and strengthened its geographical presence through an add-on acquisition in Kokkola. Furthermore, the combined support in strategy, growth and selected support functions has created even better conditions for focusing on core business and for further developing and expanding the offering to customers.

”Perhaps the most important thing is that my motivation hasn’t waned – quite the opposite, in fact. I still enjoy going to work in the mornings, now with renewed energy. We are no longer on our own, but have a strong organisation behind us that supports our growth. This creates both a sense of security and new opportunities, and it’s clearly evident in the team’s overall sense of joy.”

Today, Rau-Service forms part of the SI Group’s growing presence in Finland. It is an example of how strong, local entrepreneurial companies can continue to develop whilst retaining their identity, close customer relationships and a clear business focus.
